Still installed, this Mill is currently operating in production. It has been well-maintained and is available for inspection.
It is currently being used to roll nickel-based alloys
This Mill consists of two sections comprising (6) Stands as follows:
• Section (1) with (2) 3-Hi Roughing Stands for producing cogged squares and hand rounds.
• Section (2) is a finishing train with (1) 3-Hi stand and (3) 2-Hi stands
The Mill is also equipped with the following:
Associated guide and stripper equipment for mill stands.
Run – out track with option for quenching (quench tank capacity of 9,000 liters) or air-cooling.
Hot saw for bar with 42" blade.
Rolling stock is heated in one of (5) gas fired furnaces. All furnaces are rated at 950-1250 degrees Celsius
Two furnaces supply heated material to Section (1).
Three furnaces supply heated material for Section (2).
420mm diameter roll turning lathe.
460mm diameter with a bed length of 12 feet.
Trolley for changing stands.
Workshop equipment for changing rolls.
